This article was enlightening enough that I just sent it out to all the teachers and administrators on my campus. Technology has been a huge discussion in our district because of the new Common Core standards and tests that will be administered to high school students in the future. We are obviously moving to a technological realm in all aspects of teaching. We currently use projectors, blogs, and even allow our kids to use their cell phones in class when asked to by the teacher. The times are definitely changing and the Gen AO will have a significant impact on the way we educate our students.
Currently I see the things that are posted in the article such as students being able to multitask, distraction, dependence on technology, short attention spans, feeling connected and change. We as teachers are caught in a situation where we were not brought up in the always on mode, so we have to learn and change the way we deliver lessons to this generation. Gen AO also needs to understand and learn how we grew up, because who says technology is the right way and the only way to learn.
